Passion to Profession

Bisa Yun Singpho is an Indian educator, counselor, and social worker based in Arunachal Pradesh. She is best known as the co-founder of Laika Play Home, an inclusive educational and rehabilitation facility.

Early Education and Training Mrs. Singpho completed her undergraduate studies in Education and her Post-Graduation in Psychology from Dibrugarh University. She subsequently earned a Diploma in Guidance and Counselling from the North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) in Meghalaya. Her specialised training includes a course in Child Psychology and Crisis Management from Kolkata University and a Bachelor’s in Special Education (HI) from the Arunachal University of Studies. In 2017, she completed a clinical internship in the Department of Psychiatry at Assam Medical College and Hospital.

Professional Career Mrs. Singpho began her clinical career as a Child Therapist at Astitva Multi Speciality and Hearing Centre in Guwahati. She later transitioned into the federal school system, serving as a Child Counsellor at Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Goju, followed by a year tenure as a Special Educator at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Miao.

In the field of mental health and addiction, she served for more than three years as a Psychological Counselor at the Drug De-Addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre in Lathao, Namsai District, Arunachal Pradesh, where she provided clinical counselling to over hundreds and thousands of  inmates. She was subsequently appointed as an Addiction Counselor at District Hospital Namsai, in the department of (ATF) under the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

 

In 2024, Bisa Yun Singpho participated in the All India Institute of Medical Science,  Induction Training Workshop for Substance Use Disorders, a capacity-building project by the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC) at capital New Delhi. She has also contributed to the Government of India’s MANODARPAN initiative, providing psychosocial support to students.

She eventually resigned from her government post to establish Laika Play Home in Goju Village. The center is a pioneering multispecialty institution in the Bordumsa region, designed to provide integrated education and rehabilitation for neurotypical children, specially-abled children, and individuals seeking recovery from substance abuse.
